Nigerian skit maker Samuel Animashaun Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has broken his months-long silence to share an emotional account of surviving a stray bullet incident that kept him hospitalized and away from the public eye. LAGOS, Nigeria, Oct. 27, 2026
In a detailed video shared on his official YouTube channel on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the comedian updated his fans on his recovery. He revealed that the tragedy occurred on March 9, 2026, during what was supposed to be a standard workday following a brand activation outing.
Key details from the comedian's emotional revelation include:
The Incident The entertainer recounted that his team had just finished shooting and were leaving the Sango-Ota bridge area when they became stuck in traffic.
He described hearing a loud bang before everything went completely silent. After touching his hip and seeing blood, he realized he had been struck by a stray bullet. Overwhelmed with fear and losing consciousness shortly after, his only thought was a desperate prayer for survival on the way to the clinic.
Medical Emergency Shaggi was initially rushed to a hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where medical personnel scrambled to locate the gunshot wound. However, the facility lacked the necessary equipment to treat him. He was subsequently transferred to a specialized medical facility in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Ikeja, where swift action by emergency room staff finally gave him peace of mind that he would pull through.
Physical and Emotional Toll The comedian spent months hospitalized and was completely unable to move his leg. He admitted to battling severe depression during his recovery, frequently bursting into tears while watching colleagues post skits online.
He feared he might never be able to perform again and worried that the public would forget him during his prolonged absence, describing March 9 as a day he wishes had never happened.
Road to Recovery Following extensive medical care, Shaggi is now successfully recuperating. He has regained the ability to stand and walk, though he currently relies on crutches for support. Reassuring his massive fanbase, the resilient comedian promised that he will soon return to the screens with new entertainment projects.
