In an interview made available to Shemnews on Thursday, the founder of SteveRay Couture emphasized that fashion represents a universal industry capable of driving sustainable national growth if backed by targeted manufacturing infrastructure, supportive policy frameworks, and open business pathways for young creatives.

Raymond underscored that the sector requires structured operational reforms, including a standardized national fashion calendar and transparent platforms that connect emerging designers to commercial capital.

He urged designers across the country to move past isolated individual recognition toward integrated production and sales networks, asserting that a collaborative system could elevate Nigeria Fashion Week into a world-class institution that draws major international investment.

Addressing supply chain constraints, the designer advocated for expanded domestic manufacturing of textiles and technical equipment to cut reliance on expensive imports. Championing an aesthetic he terms "Afrocentric pop culture" a concept that balances indigenous fabrics such as Aso-oke, Kente, and Adire with contemporary tailoring Raymond argued that reclaiming cultural identity and expanding local processing systems are vital to making African fashion globally competitive.
